This Texas blend is predominantly comprised of Merlot sourced from the Texas High Plains, a region with enough altitude to free grapes from scorching Texas heat, and generate gentle juicy watermelon notes, with hints of black pepper. Dark, rich and chalky Malbec help minimize edgy tannins and leave a more refined, velvety mouthfeel.
Petit Verdot adds a depth of color, dark fruit, and length to the finish. The tannins are layered and complex - from chalky to velvety and rich.
The artwork is a Goya study done by Nic Mathis. At $20/btl, the Work Horse is meant to be in reach of any hard worker.

The drawing-rooms of one of the most magnificent private residences in Austin are ablaze of lights. Carriages line the streets in front, and from gate to doorway is spread a velvet carpet, on which the delicate feet of the guests may tread. The occasion is the entrée into society of one of the fairest buds in the City of the Violet Crown.
This Tawny Port style dessert wine is made from a blend of 6 Portuguese grapes , in an intentionally oxidized fashion, in which fortified, brandied wine is added back to the blend during fermentation, leaving the sweet dessert character to go with rich, nutty flavors and aromas. This wine spent over 2 years on oak and is bottled in a 375ml bottle. Will hold well for months after opening thanks to the sugar, tannins and high alcohol content (20%)
Varietals: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, Souzao, Tina Roriz, Bastardo, Alvarelho
Tasting Notes: Nutty with light caramel

If you loved our Work Horse, we think you will appreciate the more refined sister of Quarter Horse. This 100% Texas High Plains Sangiovese is made in a style more reminiscent of the Old World Red plum, candied rose petal and, French toast (breakfast and barrels) aromas the nose- with a juicy onset of favor that gives way to earth and spice driven mid-palate. The lengthy finish shows off leather, chalk, and white pepper. Light fruit, balanced with acidity and tannins render this wine "food friendly".
Composition: 100% Sangiovese
Region: High Plains
Chenin Blanc & Ugni Blanc are friends with benefits like the crocodile and the Egyptian pluver (the bird that cleans the crocs teeth). Alone, they are fine and dandy, but together they become greater than the sum of their parts, articulating a complexity that neither grape could do on its own.
Chenin Blanc is crisp, clean and lightly floral. The Ugni Blanc shows a rounder mouthfeel, notes of stone fruit (apricot & peach). Together, they create a balanced blend that pairs well with spicy thai dishes featuring fowl and shells (poultry and seafood).View full product details
This Chenin Blanc is grown in the Texas High Plains, the premier growing region in our State. While most of our Chenin Blanc is used in our Friends with Benefits (Chenin Blanc + Viognier) blend, we portioned two barrels for this special project.
Fermented in barrel and aged for 3 months, this wine features soft vanilla and honeysuckle on the nose and a gentle, round mouthfeel afforded by partial malolactic fermentation. Subtle acidity and minerality balance the wine and brighten the palate.
An extremely unique and limited wine.View full product details
