When you have to drink; Drink, don't talk.
Texas High Plains Sangiovese, Kubacak Vineyard, 2020.
The story of the 2020 vintage is relatively simple; an easy year climatically but stressed plants and low yields. The October 2019 freeze set the region painfully back. Post leaf and bud break, vintage was mild and presented an opportunity for the vines to recover and get back on the right foot. They showed something very respectable in this vintage.
Cloves, vanilla, tarragon flower, rootbeer aromas. Strawberry jam, cherry pie crust, candied rose petal, cinnamon toast (cereal) and a dried stemmy chocolate-y finish. Palette weight is moderate but has mature depth, heavy fruit perception. Tannin is on the lighter side, and the acid hits late for a strong salivary response. A healthy garnet color. Easy drinker - friendly and pleasant.
